1. Golconda Fort

Golconda Fort is not something that you should miss during your trip to Hyderabad. The name of the fort was derived from the term “Golla Konda”, which means shepherd’s hill. The fort was erected during the Yadava dynasty and then it came under the control of many other dynasties like the Kaktiya Dynasty, Bahmani Dynasty, and then later on it went to Mughal Dynasty. The acoustic effect of the fort will amaze you. Just clap your hands at Fateh Darwaza and you can hear the sound at Bala Hissar.

2. Ramoji Film City

A dreamwork of Cherukuri Ramoji Rao, a famous south Indian film producer, the dramatic Ramoji Film City is situated in Hyderabad. Spread over 1600 acres, the film city was founded in 1996 and is equipped with many fun and adventure activities. Other than adventure activities, there are several film sets to better understand the art of filmmaking. From duplicate temples to the replica of a railway station, there are many things to satiate your curiosity. 3. Statue of Equality/ Ramanuja Statue

The Statue of Equality Hyderabad is a grand, 216-feet-tall, golden statue of Ramanujacharya, a Hindu saint and a social reformer. It's the second tallest statue, in the sitting pose, in the world. The tallest one is the great Buddha statue in Thailand.The statue is also called the Ramanuja statue. And it has been built to spread the beliefs and ideology of Ramanuja. He is sculpted, sitting with folded hands and a soft smile on his face.The Ramanuja statue is mounted on a three-storey building acting as its base. The base has floors for a Vedic digital library, a meditation hall and an educational gallery. It also houses a museum which has ancient Indian texts and the works of Sri Ramanujacharya (or Ramanuja).Ramanuja promoted the idea of equality in all aspects of living, be it caste, faith or gender. And this masterpiece of sculpture is built to commemorate his teachings on his 1000th birth Anniversary. A golden hue covers the entire statue.

4. Charminar

Charminar is the most iconic monument in Hyderabad, which is located in the heart of the city. Charminar was built in 1591 by Mohammed Quli Qutub Shah. Boasting the Cazia style architecture, Charminar is amongst the best tourist places in Hyderabad. Charminar is actually a gate that was created to keep off the deadly epidemic, which claimed many lives during that period. The four minarets of Charminar are 48.7 meters tall and there is a mosque and 45 other prayer spaces inside it.

5. Nehru Zoological Park

Located at a distance of 16 km from Hyderabad, Nehru Zoological Park was opened to the public in the year of 1963. It is situated near the historically important Mir Alam Tank, which is 200 year old and is the first multi-arch masonry dam in the world. Nehru Zoological Park is one of the largest zoos of India and one of the top sightseeing places to visit in Hyderabad. Run by the Forest department, Government of Telangana, the zoo has been named after Jawaharlal Nehru, the first prime minister of the country.Spread over an area of approximately 380 acres, the Nehru Zoo Park boasts of almost 1,500 species of birds, mammals and reptiles. Adding to the extensive varieties of wildlife, this zoo park is considered to be the first one where animals have been kept in zoological order.Adding to the overall experience are the extensive range of activities to do in Hyderabad Zoo Park. 6. Salar Jung Museum

On the southern bank of the river Musi of Hyderabad, Salar Jung Museum is situated on Salar Jung Road, at Dar-ul-Shifa. It stands near the Minar Function Hall, which does act as a landmark.Popularly known for its one of the largest one-man collection of the world, Salar Jung Museum is one of the most famous Hyderabad sightseeing places that must be visited. 7. Purani Haveli

Purani Haveli Hyderabad: is located at the South east of Afzal Gunj Bridge near Dewan Devdi. It is a U shaped complex with a single storied central building in European style which was originally established as the residential quarters of Mir Momen, the Peshwa of Mohammed Quli Qutub Shah around 16th century.Purani Haveli one of the popular tourist spots in Hyderabad was later acquired by Asaf Jah II, the second Nizam of Hyderabad in 18th century who renovated the palace and designated the same to his son Sikandar Jah, the third Nizam of Hyderabad. Later Shikandar Jah moved to the Khilaurat complex. From then on, the place has been popularly known as Purani Haveli, which literally means ‘Old Palace’. In 19th century, the sixth Nizam of Hyderabad Nawab Mir Mahboob Ali Khan Siddiqi again made this place as his official residence. It was then the glory and grandeur of past was returned to Purani Haveli.

8. Taj Falaknuma Palace

Located at a distance of 5 km from Charminar, at engine Bowli in Falaknuma, Falaknuma Palace Hyderabad stands majestically on a 2000-foot-high hill. This palace is sure to take you back to Nizam Era, to its glamour and luxurious living.Falaknuma Palace was built by Nawab Vikar-ul-Umra. With the construction laid out in 1884, it took almost 9 years to complete the construction of the palace. One of the popular tourist spots of Hyderabad, Taj Falaknuma Palace was later purchased by Nizam VI in 1897. The palace served as a royal guest house to him.Constructed over an area of 32 acres and approximately 2,000 feet above Hyderabad, the Falaknuma Palace has been constructed with Italian marble. Built by an Italian architect, the palace is one of the architectural wonders of 19th century and is often referred as "mirror of the sky".

9. The Nizam's Museum

Located in the Purani Haveli, Nizam's Museum is a place worth visiting. Boasting of a rich collection of memoirs, gifts, souvenirs from all over the world, it was created on the wish of last and the seventh Nizam, Asaf Jah VII, the museum showcases a glimpse into the lives of Nizams, who have ruled the city from 19th to 20th century, initiating a high rate of development.In 1936, to mark the completion of 25 years reign of the seventh Nizam, various silver jubilee celebrations were organized. To celebrate this event, a special Jubilee Pavilion Hall was constructed at the Public Gardens (Bagh-e-aam) Hyderabad . During this celebration, Nizam has received gifts comprising of mementos, models and presentations, which constitute a larger portion of the items displayed at the Nizam Museum. Along with these, other gifts, which he had received from his well-wishers over the years, have also been kept for display.

10. Hyderabad Botanical Gardens

Botanical Garden of Hyderabad is also one of the interesting sightseeing places in Hyderabad offering a refreshing setting and rich flora. Having been developed by the Forest Departments, Botanical Garden is situated in Madhapur near the Hi-tech City which is almost 16 km away from centre of the city.The land for botanical garden has been allotted in in the Kothaguda Reserve Forest for the purpose of preserving natural flora and fauna. Spread across an area of 120 acres, this garden is consisted of 19 Vanams or sectors. It first was opened with 5 sectors constituting of various kinds of flora such as medicinal plants, ornamental plants, fruit and timber trees, bamboos, palm trees along with wide variety of aquatic plants.

11. Chowmahalla Palace

The 200 years old palace is located at the heart of the city. Chowmahalla Palace was the official seat of the Nizam of Hyderabad during the golden age of Hyderabad. The palace has three different sections known as Northern Courtyard, Southern Courtyard, and Khilwat Mubarak. All three of them are unique in their own way and their exteriors and opulent interiors are some of the things to look forward to.

12. Birla Mandir

The Birla Mandir in Hyderabad forms a pleasant serene atmosphere and is a perfect place for those who wish to get away from city life and immerse themselves in prayer and meditation. The Mandir is dedicated to the Lord Venkateshwara of Tirumala and is in fact modelled after and is the replica of the idol of Balaji of Tirupati. Created in 1976 by Swami Renganathananda from Ramakrishna Ashram and constructed by the Birla Foundation, the Birla Mandir has been a safe haven for all those looking for a few hours of peace amongst the glorious landscape. The temple itself is located at the top of a 280 feet tall hill called the Naubat Pahad that overlooks both, Hyderabad and Secunderabad as well as the Hussain Sagar Lake and is one of the best viewpoints in the city. The main idol in the Birla Mandir is eleven feet tall and made entirely of white marble, approximately 2000 tonnes from Rajasthan, making it a truly majestic sight to behold. The idol is also covered by a carved lotus canopy made of granite stone which vastly contrasts with the marble of the idol.
